BEVERLY FLINT I Co-Editor ALFRED COX Co-Editor NANCY McGRAW FOREWORD THE 1967 SPRING To you, Mr. Doug Richmond, we, the Senior Class of 1966-67, wish to dedicate THE SPRING, Had it not been for you, our plays, concerts, and numerous other school activities could not have been accomplished as well. You were the one who cleaned up the school for the presentations and made ready the necessary items for all occasions. After everyone else had gone, you stayed to clean up the school for classes the next day. You have always been kind and willing to help us in any way. From the Senior Class, a very big Thank You” and Congratulations” on a job well done. With deep appreciation we dedicate THE SPRING to you! 4 5 Annual Staff Alfred Cox Nancy McGraw Yvonne Jenkins Judy Bennett Jeff Robinson Bonnie Cline Merle Meadows Linda Walker Connie Davis Frances Dameron Patty Maxey Geretha Wickline Jewell Harvey David Lewis Richard Triggs Alfred Taylor Sponsor: BEVERLY FLINT 6 Principal Congratulations Seniors on being the first graduating class from the new Shady Spring High School. Each of you have now reached an important milestone in the ladder of life. For some this will be a happy day, for others, there will be many sad memories. How could you spend twelve years of your life thusly and not have mixed emotions? Many of you will be going on to college to prepare for your life’s work. Others will be terminating formal education in favor of jobs. Many of you boys will be going into the armed forces to protect the many liberties that we hold dear. Let's all remember that our many freedoms are wonderful but these are not possible without responsibility to our fellow man. 1 certainly hope that we here at Shady Spring High School have prepared you to meet the many challenges that you now face. Each of you are graduating during a wonderful age. I wish that all your troubles may be small ones. Come back and visit us often. A. W. The design of our class ring was changed from the emblem of the state of West Virginia to the emblem of the tiger. The name TIGERS was selected as the nickname for Shady Spring District High School. Among the names submitted were TIGERS, HORNETS, BLUE BLAZERS, BEAVERS, and WILD CATS. The Shady Spring High School TIGERS defeated the Woodrow Wilson FLYING EAGLES in a basketball game; the score was 13-7. Shady Spring High School 1950 BEAVER, WEST VIRGINIA Principal: MR. JOHN W.
