We, the senior class of nineteen hundred and fifty-nine regret that we must leave our school and all its memories. When we first came to Shady in 1955, we were overjoyed with the thought of at last being able to say we were in high school. Our class consisted of one hundred and ninty-one scared and uncertain freshmen, but soon we learned to cope with our new surroundings and found that we had nothing to fear. We began by choosing class officers. We chose Dayne Aldridge, Phyllis Bucklin, Wahnette Willis, and Irma Gillam. Frankie Snead represented us on the Student Council. Kay Curtis, Eleanor Griffith, and Irma Gillam were selected as freshmen cheerleaders. Sue Moore and Wahnette Willis were freshmen attendants to the May Queen. The next year when we came back to S. S. H. S., we were no longer scared but gald to be a part of our wonderful school. Al- most immediately we were back in the swing of things. We started by electing Dayne Aldridge, Emil Lilly, Nelva Wilcox, and Leslie Bovaird as class officers. Dayne Aldridge, Phyllis Bucklin, and Frankie Sneed were on the Student Council. In May the May Queen was once again crowned, and Sue Moore and Judy Colbaugh were elected to reign as sophomore attendants. When we were juniors, we noticed our class was diminishing in number. We chose as our officers: Emil Lilly, Dayne Aldridge, Roberta Minner, and Leslie Bovaird. Juniors on the Student Council were Judy Mann, Emil Lilly, Phyllis Bucklin, Roberta Minner, and Dayne Aldridge. Attendants to the May Queen were Judy Mann, Phyllis Bucklin, Sue Moore, and Edna Campbell. Our junior play Red-headed Royalty from Arkansas under the direction of Miss Adeline Vecellio was quite a success. Phyllis Bucklin and Dayne Aldridge were elected to represent - Shady at Know Your State Government.” Next came the biggest event of the year with the juniors honoring the seniors at the Junior- Senior Prom. Our senior year began with one hundred and twenty-four of us left. Along with the responsibility of setting an example for the other classes came the thrill of class rings and senior privileges. This year we chose Bob Greer, Glenna Hatcher, Joy Belle Furrow, and Dayne Aldridge to lead us. Dayne Aldridge, Phyllis Bucklin, Judy Mann, Bob Greer, Ronnie Cole, Sue Moore, and George Ander- son represented our class on the Student Council. Sue Moore was chosenHome-coming Queen with Judy Colbaugh and Phyllis Bucklin as her attendants. As we come to the close of our senior year, we look back on the years past and realize that our days at Shady have been well spent and also that we have completed one more important step in our ladder of success. 35 Phyllis Reed Don Akers Donna Allison Mary Allman President..............Zora Lilly Vice President . . .Nora Richmond Secretary......................Kay Anderson Treasurer...........Richard Palmer James Bair Donald Lee Basham Palma Lee Basham Densil Bennett Ellen Bennett Janice Bennett Joe Bennett Kaaren Bennett Billie Blackburn Mary Bonds Evelyn Bolen Kitty Bowling James Robert Bragg Jeanette Burress Shirley Ann Butler Charles Cadle Ronald Callahan Vince Calvert Betty Carr Gary Lee Carter Ricky Carter John Campbell John Frederick Clark Jo Ann Cockran Danny Cole Ray Wilson Cole David Collins Donald Collins Nadine Conner Peggy Cook Me Ray Cooper William Ward Freda Cox Melvin Cox Jo Ann Crisp Norman Crook Bobby Davis Douglas Day Morris Wills Jimmy Dillon Patty Dorsey Alice Fay Elkins Rebecca Ellison Elaine Epling Myrtle Farley Shelby Farley Sharon Gilkerson Sue Green Virginia Withrow Glenna Hall Roger Harper Phyllis Williams Clara Wood Wilma Hash Roberta Hodge Bobby Holly Marie Hopkins Ronnie Hopkins Sandra Huffman Mary Alice Ward Brenda Johnson Jean Jones Thomas Keith Elizabeth Ward Bobby Kiser Jimmy Lane Joyce Walker Barbara Li jo Billie Jean Lilly Charles Lilly Clarence Lilly Joseph Lilly Keith Lilly Mary Lou Lilly Mary Jo Lilly Mary Virginia Lilly Richard Lilly Robert Earl Lilly Russell Lilly Sandra Lilly Zelmar Lilly Zora Lilly Jewel Walker Thomas Lynch Brenda McClung Karen McClung Robert McClure Judith Ann Meador Larry Marshall Judith Matherly Dreama Meador Janis Meador Avigail Meadows Ceretha Meadows Danny Meadows Lloyd Massie Jack Massie Leslie Meadows Larry Merrit Howard Morrison Etsel Neely Peggy Thompson Donnie Pack Paul Pack Richard Palmar Florence Peelish Eunice Pennington Henry Pennington Robert Taylor Sandra Pennington Donald Perdue Mary Etta Pettery Nigel Pittman Le Rue Stone Joyce Plumley Shirley Plumley Keith Pruitt Sandra Prince Ray Smith Frederick Reed Diana Richmond Nora Richmond Melvin Richmond Ronald Richmond Martha Robinson Millie Jo Rose Diana Rosenbaum Joe Rylant Sandra Sanderson Don Scott Patricia Shepherd Donna Kay Simmons Carol Simpkins Beverley Smith Ellen Smith Helen Smith Judy Smith Linda Smith SOPHOMORE CLASS Officers Leonard Adkins Nyoka Adkins Roger Adkins Carl Adkins Reeda Anderson Robert Arthur William Bales Frankie Bailey Naomi Bair Sandra Ballard Lola Basham Charlott Bennett Danny Bennett Jerry Bennett Lloyd Bennett Randy Bennett William Bennett Anna Berkeley Carolyn Boyd Martha Boyd Franklin Bragg Wesley Bragg Jack Breeden Donald Brooks Joyce Burress Joan Campbell Phillip Canterbury Connie Carter Jack Chapman Arvel Chambers Janith Cochran Trela Cochran Patricia Cole Diana Conner Lois Conner Hubert Cooper Jack Cox Dale Crawford Carolyn Darlington Betty Delph Shelva Duncan Thomas Ellison Phyllis Epperly Dewey Farley Wayne Farley Ira Fegerson Darrell Ford Connie Griffith Phyllis Hanshaw Patty Harnest Betty Hatcher Douglas Hatcher Linda Hedrick David Hicks Elizabeth Hunt Ida Hunt Mary Hunter Gloria Jenkins Ella Mae Keaton Emma Kester Jerry Kiser Bobby Kunkel Vera Lester Barbara Lilly Buford Lilly Chester Lilly Dorothy Lilly Freddie Lilly Gloria Lilly Jackie Lilly James Lilly Leon Lilly Wilbur Kauff Nelda Lilly Robert C.
