An extra-spe- cial person strives for the best. An extra- special person is not afraid to say what he thinks regardless of the consequences. An extra-special person tries to fit both work and play into his busy schedule. An extra- special person is a unique individual. Here at Shady Side, there are many extra-special people who fill these categories. Since Shady Side is a competitive school, students like to feel special. So they strive to excel in at least one area. The sense of pride they receive from hard work is enough to put them in the ranks of extra-special peo- ple. These extra-special people may be the ones who run the school. They can be class officers or team captains. They can be edi- tors of the newspaper, piano virtuosos, or 1 W i . Senior Larry Jacobson sports the remaining haU of his beard. Larry lost his fight against the administration despite petitions from over a hundred students, and was forced to shave after the fall play in October. . Around the Quad, Nancy Kim struts her stuff on her skateboard. 10 promising artists. Yet they can also be quiet individuals who are proud to be themselves. Most importantly everyone who goes to Shady Side is an extra-special person. As shown on these two pages, this quality comes through in their smile, their style of dress, and the way they wear their hair.
