When George Scheetz's funeral service was held in the Shadyside Presbyterian Church last fall, over one-third of our entire student body was present to do him honor and to cele- brate his memory. Our class suffered an irreparable loss in his passing. In spite of handicaps he made a great contribution to Shady Side. His cheerfulness and courage were evident in every- thing he did. He was vitally interested in the Academy and made many friends among the boys and masters, but he was also very much concerned about the wider community and the more pressing problems of the world. He had a knowledge of history and a grasp of current affairs remarkable in a boy of his age. His memory will never fade. Not only will those who knew him personally derive inspiration from his life, but others who hear his story will be encouraged by his fortitude. His family has established a scholarship at the Academy in his name. lt will be an honor for a student to receive that scholarship, for George summed up in his life so many of the qualities which this school needs, and for which our troubled world is waiting.
