FCDREWORD This year Shady Side Academy is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. Therefore, it has been the hope of the ACADEMIAN Board to present more than ever in this volume an accurate and artistic record of the events of the past year. We shall be satisfied if we have fully and truly pictured the significant phases of our school life, and we shall be pleased if these pages shall, in after years, revive recollections that are dear and shall kindle anew the spirit of devotion to Shady Side.
