611155 J-listary In the fall of 1952, a group of Southern Belles and Southern Gentlemen started on the long and hard task of getting a high school education. This group consisted of twenty- seven Southerns. Holding the umbrella over these Southerns was Mr. Frank Hardin. Help- ing to lead were Becky Starling, Betty Mullis, Barbara Ledford and Don Bamhardt. The first part of our trip was successful with the biggest struggle being the Halloween Carnival, Our candidates for King and Queen were: King, William Bailey, Queen, Betty Lou Bailey, and her Attendant, Jackie McCulloh. Then in the crisp August air of 1953, we started on the second part of our trip. Count- ing the Southerns this year was Miss Mary Rose Hall. Don Barnhardt, Betty Mullis, and Elmer Shore helped with the job. ln counting the heads we found that Nell Sidden, Ruby Cornatzer, Bill Mock, and Bobby Cope were no longer around. We had gained two new ones, Ethel and Elmer Shore. We were later to find out that Elmer or Pete was to be a big factor in our class work in the following years. Our candidates for the Halloween Carnival this year were King, Donald Barney: Queen, Sallie Bailey, and her Attendant being, Betty Mullis. This year had been very successful with all the work and parties we had, The Southems were aware of the extra load we would have to carry this year of 1954 for we were now being called Juniors. Again holding the umbrella over the Southerns was Mr. Frank Hardin, While calling the roll we found that one of the Southem Belles had changed her name from Sallie Bailey to Mrs. Ronald Bamey, We also found out that Ronnie had quit school. Our group proved to be very musical this year which was to be a big help with the Junior-Senior Banquet which was held at the Robert E. Lee Hotel in Winston-Salem. Our candidates for the Halloween Camival this year were King, Roy Potts, Queen Edith Bailey, and her Attendant, Jackie McCulloh. All the work and parties helped to make this year very successful and one to be remembered for a long time to come. Helping to plan all the fun we were to have that year was Don Barnhardt, Betty Mullis, and Mildred Nance, They proved to be very helpful in everything. We also gained a new Southern Belle who went by the name of Shirley Cornatzer, g Then in the year of 1955, which was also to be a year we would not forget, we found that one of our very best Gentlemen, Don Barnhardt had decided to leave for he had attend- ed summer school, Holding the group in hand this year was Mrs. I. D. Parker, Jr., who we were to find was a lot of fun along with being very stern. Helping Mrs, Parker were Elmer Shore, William Bailey, and Mildred Nance, This was really a big year for us. Our candidates for the Halloween Carnival this year were King, Bennett Potts, Queen, Betty Mullis, and her Attendant, Jackie McCulloh. This year we worked harder than ever before and won with 5274. This year was full of parties and hard work, We wanted the OUT- LOOK to be the best there was. Then we wanted the Annual to be even better and we worked hard to make them both a big success.
