Opening da,y's confusion ..... Opening day's confusion was partially solved by the help of the Girls' League Big-Little Sister plan and the con held before school opened so the girls could become acquainted with some of the schools organizations. On October 3, 1974, the Girls' State Con was held. Featured speakers were Barb Bauer and Sandi Hebert, Shadle's representatives to Evergreen Girls' State. held during the summer. Also in the program were the introductions of some of our foreign students and talks by the Fashion Board Representatives. ' The Sadie Hawkins Dance was held on Saturday. November 23, in the school gym. This annual girl-ask-guy dance was the biggest dance of the year. Everyone wore costumes in the Lil' Abner comic, theme. Prizes were awarded for the best costumes in certain categories. A Another activity during the fall was the Dad-Daughter Dessert. The girls and their dads gathered at the school for an enjoyable evening of entertainment. ' ' f A fashion show with the theme of Falling into Winter with Shades of Autumn, and several service projects led DY! the Courtesy Committee were also included during the semester. Striving to keep unity within the school, become closer acquainted with the girls of Shadle, and give girls more say in everything that goes on, were the goals of officers, President Shery Murphy. Vice- President Mary Zuege. Secretary Kim Klohe and Treasurer Debbie Meyers. They were assisted by an Executive Council made up of Senior Barb Bauer, Junior Sue Overbust and Sophomore Leanne Smith. Top Right: Lori Morris was announced as September's Girl-of-the-Month during the Girls' State Con by a skit put on by the officers, Bottom Right: The Fashion Board Representatives to the Department stores of Spokane were Mary Lehn, the Crescent: Laurie O'Hare, the Bon Marche: and Kristie Meissner, Penney's.

South America, Africa, and the Orient. Antje Hadler. a pretty blonde from Hamburg, Germany was here on the Youth for Understanding Program. She involved herself in tennis, art, knitting, hiking, and enjoyed spending time at the ocean. Our American Foreign Exchange Student this year was Thomas Henriques of Sweden. But Thomas' interests were not confined to athletics. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. His home in the United States was spent with Senior Jan Boberg and her family. A touch of Latin flavor was brought to our halls by Juan lrurralde of Quito, Ecuador. He enjoys music and American girls as well as competing on the Shadle Park Golf Team. Like Antje. he enjoys the ocean. Kau Dokpa, another Y.F.U. student is from Liberia, Africa. Since her stay in America, she favors Little House On The Prairie above all other television programs. She also likes the American hamburger and hot dog. Her stay will extend till the end of the 1975-1976 school year. ShadIe's Thai friend Panida Dang Boonyawattana is a shy. lovely person.
