Cheerleaders Promote School Spirit Getting more people involved and increasing school spirit was the main obiective of the 1973-1974 varsity cheerleaders. Pep cons and signs were some of the methods used to promote football, basketball, and other various sports and activities. Kayla Adams, Margaret Cassidy, Kathy Doughty, Debbie Duchow, Linda Distler, Jolene Michelsen, and Lorilee Sherwood were chosen from 30 contestants last spring. Starting their cheerleading season, they attended a cheerleading camp at Ellensberg, Washington. where they learned many new cheers and met lots of neat people. Cheerleading is a great experience, says Margaret, although sometimes it can be hard work and there are some problems, but you meet so many new people and you get so many new ideas that all the problems and troubles are worth it. Above: Margaret Cassidy cheers. Above right: Three cheerleaders lead the student body in a cheer. Flight: The Cheerleaders welcome the team.
