Sporron Stott Uses Three Column Loyoul Above: Editor Tom Lathen is taken by surprise while explaining new techniques of the three column layouts to Monte Edwards. Below right: Bud Lindsey types up his final copy for his yearbook spread. The first day of school dawned clear. We met and kicked around ideas. Some old friends. some new faces. All of us with a common purpose-SPORRAN. We began our work and from the beginning we had problems. Shouts of Where the hecks a ruler. and yells of Tom, come quick! resounded through the halls from room 121. From rough drafts we watched a yearbook come to life. We've survived absences. sweat. tears, parties and even our deadlines. Our dreams slowly shaped into reality and we sat back and sighed. The past is gone. but in this book that you hold. a part of each of us remains forever. This year changes were numerous in yearbook, after Pete Vandervvegen left us for Aberdeen, we received a new advisor, Mr. Neil Dressler. We changed our layout style from focal point to three column style. Our cover changed from art work to a photograph. But we stuck with our same editor who we've had for the last two years. Our printers once again used last year's book for a demonstrator and lGod-willingl this one too. ' Above right: Dave Zaccaria and Bud Lindsey proportion pictures to fit the final draft form. Far right: Smiling co-editor. Bill Craze, in a busier moment during 5th period. Zaccaria-sports editor, Colleen Ferguson- ad manager, reporters: Jan Boberg, Steve Coon, Jon Ericson, Gary Gibbs, Terri Hanley, Tom Lathen, Sandy Lewis, and Bill Savitz. Everyone was starting from scratch this year. Mr. Carl Crowe was first time adviser of the staff. There were lots of organizational problems in September. As a group the staff was pretty good, says Lynne Thomas. Having won the Columbia Press Association's first class ranking last year, the staff became more and more eager as the year progressed in maintaining the high standards of the HI LITES. Around the Holidays the staff decided to give the paper a new outlook by reporting more community related activities in an effort to interest the students with their surroundings. GoaI is to include activities of the student whose activities pertain more to the community rather than just school functions, says Bill Craze.
