AFS Student Merino Works Busy Schedule 1974's AFS student at Shadle is Marina Montemurro from Torino. Italy, Besides her busy schedule of Humanities. Chemistry. Drama. French and Sociology. Marina is involved in Aqua Tartans. She enjoys going to football games and is interested in photography and all types of music. School is very different for Marina here. In Italy. she said, we go to school six days a week and there are no extra things like dances and sports. Other differences that Marina cited were dances in Italy are slow folk dances. the food, steak being her favorite. the drinking age, there are no restrictions in Italy, 18 is the age to drive and 21 to vote. Marina arrived in Spokane in August after a visit to New York, where she met with other AFS students and is now staying with Judy Howard, a junior. and her family. Foil ASB Sponsors Student Foculty Voriety Show Sponsorship of the Student Faculty Benefit Variety Show and Student Exchange Program highlighted activities of the fall ASB. Held December 3 in a con for the student body and an evening performance for the general public, the benefit variety show was one of the biggies of the Christmas season. The benefit was held to help pay for the medical expenses of a faculty member whose wife died of cancer. The show featured the cheerleaders, pipe band. school bands. and many individual student acts. An all male faculty belly dance and a vivacious female dance were the featured faculty acts. Student Exchange Program is designed to let students visit other schools and to compare the different curriculums. Students from Shadle, N.C.. L.C., Ferris, Marycliff. Flogers. Continuation, and Gonzaga Prep. participated. Fall ASB officers included: President, Dan Flynn, Vice President, Jim Cane. Treasurer, Evan Howard. Secretary, Lisa Jones, and Fifth Executive, Darla Comstock.
