REFLECTIONS Shortages seemed to be in vogue during 73-74. A steak cost three bucks a pound. Gas was 45c a gallon. There was no wheat, meat, or trustworthy politicians. An abundancy of fires and a shortage of water pretty well sums up the summer of '73. One week we almost lost Riverside State Park, the next our mighty radio stations. Oh yeah, don't forget Watergate. Senators Sam Irvin and especially Howard Baker deemed themselves T.V. stars with their campaign practices investigation. President Richard Nixon professed to be as dumb as Warren G. Teapot Harding These guys are just some of my close and dearest friends. The truth will probably. well. . . at least to the best of my recollection never be known. Not to be outdone V.P. Spiro Agnew became ex V.P. Spiro Agnew, Ted deserves some credit however lhe did it for greed! But.,,, Ford had a better ideal!!! A lot of changes have occurred around Spokane. All the buildings constructed to accomodate Xpo have further marred the city's skyline. But. what the heck, we aren't a seaport. And .... we got a new bridge. Remember 1974? The year we lost the Lilac City.
