Groups Studyg Travel Abroad For better understanding of world interests and problems, nine Shadle students visited foreign countries last summer. Many different travel programs are offered to students every year. These programs are to promote better international understanding, to exchange ideas with students and adults of other countries and to develop enrichment of mind and spirit through insight and empathy. Seniors Dave Ward and Melanie Skelton spent six weeks visiting Europe and Russia. The American Institute of Foreign Study lAIFSl made this trip possible for Mel and Dave and eighty other American high school students. Their six weeks tour allowed them to spend four weeks studying at the University of Leningrad, On another AIFS-sponsored tour, Tom Armitage and Frank Bayman visited St. Andrews, Scotland for three weeks. They also joined two hundred other AIFS students to tour Europe for an additional three weeks.
