GL Con Starts Off Busy Fall Schedule Heading a busy schedule of events this fall, big sisters introduced sophomore girls to Shadle at the Big-Little Sister Con. Girls' League activities were planned by President Karen Bell, Vice- President Linda Cameron, Secretary Jan Dickson, and Treasurer Annette Naccarato. BLIND OWL was featured at the annual Sadie Hawkins Dance. Best costume award was given to Vicki Miller and Bruce Gumm who were dressed in outhouse attire. Mr. America and Me themed the Dad-Daughter dessert which featured volleyball, jolleyball, and a fine entertainment program. Senior Janie Countryman and her father won the Mr. America and Me Contest. Karen McKee was chosen October Girl of the Month for her active participation in Girls' League programs and volunteer work around school. Karen also helped to bring about the successful Big-Little Sister Con at the beginning of the year. Kathy Mitchell, active in drama, was selected for Girl of the Month in November. Kathy was in Children's Theatre and UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE. She is also involved in Shadle's music programs. Denise McCoy was honored with the Girl of the Month award in December for her accomplishments in the field of music. Denise is in Jazz Lab Band, Orchestra, and she also played solo in the Pop's Concert.

Eighth Cheerleader Added to SP Line Since 1957, Shadle has had seven cheerleaders who were chosen by the ASB council. But due to a tie in the ASB's balloting last spring, an eighth girl joined the SP spirit line for the first time this fall. After winning the spirit stick at a summer cheerleading camp in Ellensburg. the cheerleaders perfected their cheers, and got new sweaters lor dyed the old onesl all before the first football game in September. Some of the cheerleader's other activities included-being tackled by a football player: packing all eight girls, 16 pomepoms, cokes, and coats into Barb's '65 VW: toilet-papering the Ferris cheerIeader's houses at midnight: waking up at 5, having breakfast at 6, a pep con at noon and cheering at the 8:30 game. They also got things thrown at them when they exchanged sides at half-time, forgot a cheer, received goodies from the managers, and found out that Donna was the first red-headed cheerleader. Shadle Park's 1972 cheerleaders included: Top row: Donna Barker, Paula Urness. Debbie Fichera, Sue Damrell. Bottom row: Karen Klohe, Barb Michaelsen. Sue Miller. Jacci Cooke.
