Social Stud'es Program Adds Sophomore Humanities Above: Pam Schoch explains a theory while others consider it dur- ing one of the twice-weekly semi- nars held in senior humanities. A new class, sophomore hu- manities, appeared in the social studies curriculum this year. Though humani- ties has been offered to, and widely accepted by, se- niors for four years, this is the first year it has been available at any other grade level at Shadle Park. Taught cooperatively by Mrs. Georgiana Sutherlin and Mrs. Betty Partridge, sophomore humanities employs three main teaching methods in presenting concepts of world history and literature. Lec- tures to the entire class of 60, 15-student seminarsg and lab Cexperiments in writing and large group discussionsl were all used in the new 10th grade study. Basic courses in the social studies area were offered as usual. Mr. Donald Miller emphasizes a lish-history class in a discussion point as he leads his junior Eng- of the Vietnamese war.
