Sporran Honors Retiring IVI Taylor With Dedication September, 1957-A new high school joined the Spokane ranks: The Highlanders of Shadle Park had been born. At the beginning, Principal William Taylor and a staff of 61 teachers and 5 secretaries greeted 1515 new students and began to build Spokane's most dynamic student body. ln thirteen years 6,025 stu- dents have graduated from Shadle Park, over 20,800 stu- dents have passed through the Highland Halls, 41 of the original staff have gone, but Mr. Taylor has guided the growth of Shadle Park for all 13 years. As the person who has led this great school to its maturity, Mr. Taylor retires at the close of this school year. For his great contributions to the institution we know as Shadle Park High School, this book is dedicated to Mr. Taylor: the individual who, to each Highlander, symbolizes the pride, spirit and loyalty that belong to each student at Shadle. ln our hearts, and in his, he will always be a Highlander. changes that have taken place, Mr. Taylor will retire at the close of the school year after forty-one years in public education.
