Qwttislv UtylJlcUtd l The Highlanders have arrived! yells Mr. Cobb as pep cons, and 2,230 wildly gesticu¬ lating fans leap to their feet to sport vic¬ tory signs. Lads and lassies sell booster but¬ tons and paint posters before games to bolster team morale. Beanie Club, Pep Club, Hi-Lassies, and band members promote en¬ thusiasm. Spirit abounds at Shadle Park. Traditions link Shadle to the glory of the Henderson clan of Scotland. Shadle ' s tartan weaves its pattern through every aspect of school life—in the classroom, on the field, and in every Highlander heart. Strains of old Scotch melodies echoing through the halls at the close of day recall shadows of the past and tie ancient traditions closer to this modern age of missies and miracles.

Both the grouse foot, symbolic of a highland game bird, and the thistle, national flower of Scotland, sig¬ nify Highlander heritage. Spokane Falls, the original landmark of Spokane, appears in the upper section. The crescent and star symbolize Mr. Eugene Shadle, first owner of the Crescent Department Store and donor of the land now occupied by the school.
