In Decisions For The Future JOYCE WOOD University of Alabama, 8.A,, M.S. Girls' Counselor Assisting in college choices, selecting subjects, and discussing academic problems with students are a few of the duties performed by our experienced counselors. Mr. Horton B. Chamblee. now serving in his twenty-first year, is the boys' counselor. Mrs. Joyce Wood, a new addition to this department, is the counselor for the girls, and helping the sophomores again this year is Mrs. Martha Vines. The sincere desire of the counselors to treat each student as an individual with different needs and aspirations is one of the reasons for the excellent relationship between faculty and student body. Helping the student to make the most of his abilities and to become a useful part of today's society is the foremost aim of this department. 23

Training Assistant Registrar Working in all areas of school and student buisness, Shades Valley's office staff continues its expert handling of the many administrative duties which are an important part of our school. Mrs. Dorothy Cox is not only registrar but also Dr. Peake's secretary. Mrs. Virginia Pugh, assistant registrar is responsible for the monthly attendance reports and all student records. Mrs. Beth Rogers, assistant registrar, is in charge of bookkeeping. The staff's dedication to Valley provides for the smooth operation of our school from day to day.
