DEDICATED MISS ANNIE LOIS BORDERS Who with wise hand in guidance and loving heart in counsel, has played an outstanding role in molding the lives of students of Shades Cahaba High School. Since coming to Cahaba as a Senior English teacher, Miss Borders has, at one time or another, been girls adviser, sponsored several Literary clubs, the Journalism Club, and the Mountaineer. Each year she has sponsored the publication of the Owl, which would not be possible without her untiring efforts. This popular teacher has also been active in Ameri- can Association of University Women work, holding several offices and serving on numerous committees. She is a member of Delta Kappa Gam- ma, a national professional soririty for outstanding women in the field of education. Yet with all this, she is ever ready to lend an understanding eat' to the problems of any student and to give encouragement and guid- ance. She is at all times a true teacher, inspiring students to grasp the splendor of beauty in literature and the facts of grammarg thus making learning a joyous adventure. Yet more than a teacher, she is a person- ality, giving inspiration to all who are privileged to sit in her classes or to work with her, So this 1946 edition of the Owl is lovingly dedicated in recognition of her years of valuable service and of the love and deep appreciation which the students of Shades Cahaba feel toward her.
