Class History On a warm September day in 1950 our Mothers hurried twelve little tots merrily on their adventurous journey. Carolyn Heemstra joined us in January making 13 students. Our first grade was under the guldance and direction of Miss Esther Bauer. Five of our first grade students are now graduating together. They are Edna Blain, Barbara Morris, Dolores Hamilton Marie Gee and Carolyn Heemstra. On June 23, 1941 our school building burned,,so most of our class went to West Point for our second grade. We were under the direction of Mrs. Floyd Weaver, during these years we gained and lost many students. A few years elapsed and we reached the seventh grade and we were ln the big -- big -- assembly. During our seventh grade we took an educational and pleasure trip to Chicago. The eighth grade went also with Mrs. Craw and Mr. Pearl as our sponsors. In the eighth grade twin girls, Llnda and Lula Belle Gates, joined our class making our class a total of sixteen pupils- Finally our Freshman year arrived. My goodness, how bashful we were. Although we were green, we tried earnestly to increase our knowledge. This year June Connelly, Gene Rooze and Marte Gee joined us from Elston. We chose our class officers as follows: President, Mary Louis McCarty, Vice President, Dolores Hamilton, Secretary and Treasurer, Carolyn Heemstrag Reporter, June Connelly. Our class sponsor was Mrs. Rosen. The last part of the year we lost the Gates twins. In our Sophomore year we chose our pretty bright red and white class sweaters. Our class officers were as follows: President, Sheldon Stillionsg Vice President, Dudley Binfordg Secretary and Treasurer, Mary Louise McCarty, Reporter Edna Blain. Our sponsor was Mr. Hampton. The last part of the year we lost Mary Louise McCarty. Then came our Junior year which proved to be a lot of work, but many fond memories were gained from lt. During the year we sold ice cream at school and at ball games we sold popcorn, ice cream and cokes. This year we chose our class rings of which we are very proud. We gave the Seniors a reception on April 29 in the school gymnasium. We chose our class flower, the American Beauty Rose and our class motto, B What You R. Under the direction of Mrs. Mary Smith we presented the play Aunt Tillie Goes to Town. Our class officers this year were President, Sheldon Stllllonsg Vice President, Dolores Hamilton, Secretary and Treasurer, Edna Blain, Assistant Treasurer, Carolyn Heemstrag Reporter, Barbara Morris. The year of 1952 rolled around slowly, we thought, until we Seniors started talking about memories when we were Freshmen -- then suddenly it seemed like yesterday when they took place. This year Madelyn Conrad joined us from Jeff, making a total of ten jolly Seniors. This year our officers are: President, Carolyn Heemstra, Vice President, Dolores Hamiltong Secretary, Barbara Morris, Treasurer, Edna Blain, Reporter, Barbara Morris. The first of school we went soliciting for ads to make the publication of this annual possible. We also gave a Chill supper to add to our treasurery so we could go on our trip. After the Chill supper we had a slumber party at Carolyn Heemstra's. On October 18 we had our pictures taken at Smith's Studio in Attica. Mr. and Mrs. Robb entertained us with a Valentine Party at their home in Llnden. We presented the play The Inner Willy directed by Mrs. Jane Packard. 16
