Wickesberg SENIORS We entered Seymour High, a crew of green Freshies, 88 strong. Initiation took us down a peg right away. Everyone told us how lucky we were because no lipstick smearing was allowed, but initiation seemed pretty terrific to us anyhow. Remember all those clownish costumes, baby bonnets, high heels, and halls smelling of perfume? . . .Class officers were: Joyce Vande Leest, president, John Frisbie, vice president, Donald Kunstman, secretary, and Donald Wickesberg, treasurer. Back as Sophs we were set to conduct the new Freshmen through everything-and we do mean everything! It was fun to see them bowing to the floor everytime they saw one of us, and how cute they looked in bathrobes and women's long dresses! Officers for that year were Donald Wickesberg, president, Allen Burns, vice-president, Helen Mory, secretary, and Carol George, treasurer. Our Junior year seemed to be busiest of all. We started early on our prom- Far Away Places -and it was a huge success. White Iris, Seymour's entry in the Little Nine One-Act play contest received high honors in both sectional and state contests. Joyce Siebers, Shirley Severson, Loretta Kurowski, and Marian Barth were the all-star cast. We were glad to see Elaine Behm back with us after being gone a year. Those guiding our class were Le Roy Ciesielczyk, president, Alvin Olson, vice-president, Allen Burns, secretary, and Lee Nagel, treasurer. Now, as Seniors, we are winding up our high school career. Ken Conrad was president, Duane Wussow, vice president, Jean Lotter, secretary, and Donald Wickesberg, treasurer. We enioyed that field trip to the Oshkosh State Teacher's College and the Mental Hospital with Miss Farrell and Mrs. West accompanying us. We discovered we have pretty famous people in our class-Rosemary Haase, our representative for Homecoming, Lawrence Johns, F. F. A. president and Blue Jay editor, Carol George, F. H. A. president, Jacqueline Frisbie, Ripper editor, and Lar Rayne Leyers, her assistant. Alvin Olson is the master artist and Lee Nagel has become widely known for his smart remarks. Ciesielczyk, Rohloff, Burns, Rohm, Kunstman, Wickesberg, and Werner are famous for their A team playing. With the pep and energy of our senior cheerleaders, Shirley Severson, John Frisbie, Patsy Klaus, Jean Lotter, and Eugene Gilbert behind them, how could they lose? Duane Wussow and his tenor saxaphone and Keith Barth with the bass horn are two more of our celebrities. Plans for graduation are nearing completion so with sad hearts we say good-bye to Seymour High and thank-you for all it has given us. Back in the summer of 1958 l decided it would be a good idea to make a survey of what my old classmates were doing. Gerald Jaskolski's newly formed Detective Agency began immediate work on the proiect. Our first report came from Hawaii where our investigator saw Mary Ulmen and her sailor boy strolling along the beach. Another Private Eye spotted Iva Jean Mauthe as the vice-president of the Seymour Woodenware. The three bosom friends, Blanche Welhouse, Janet Schmidt, and Shirley Henning are married and operating some of the most productive farms in this area. Of course, Beverly Peterson and her guy are living in the prosperous fishing town of Shiocton. The coast to coast network, WSEY, is run and operated by that famous radio technician, Don Brocker. Working on his staff is Ken Conrad as sports announcer for the Seymour Nuggets, that great pro team coached by our former teacher, Mr. Fisher. Ruby Haas is starring in a soap opera Cal's Other Wife. Donald Wickesberg is now known as the second Arthur Godfrey. Detective Clarence Swiecichowski has located Helen Mory, successful Metropolitan Opera Star, who also is a hit on television-and guess who's selling the television sets on the moon? Why, none other than Gene Fenn! He says her music is out of this world! The Lips Burns is now starring for Paramount Studios as the tough guy-still featuring the lips that have never been shattered by a woman's kiss. CWe thinklj Carol George, Joanne Spaude, and Elaine Lembcke have also been tracked down. They're teaching Mrs. Butch's children who are the tough guys of the class. Floyd Kahler was located developing a new rocket to Mars. With him are his assistants, Roger Matuszak, Lawrence Hartl, and Dave Coleman. Margaret Abel, Ardyce Moeller, Romaine Holl, and Mary and Betty Felton have all found the men of their dreams and are the society ladies of Seymour. Pierre Rohm now operates a swank beauty shop in New York City. Employees are his wife, Barbara Schroeder, who curls his hair, and Lola Blom. Jackie Maass is still the Number Please girl in Seymour. Shirley Severson now plays her bassoon in Xavier Cugat's Orchestra. iBy the way, her Pomeranian has replaced Xavier's Chihuahua as mascot.i Don Kunstman has taken over his brother's Carmel Corn shop and married the cute blonde girl who works for him. Dit Kimball was rescued while rowing across the Atlantic to be near her navy boy. Mary Ann Parker and Delores Schuyler are modeling Bikini Bathing suits for Eldon Albert's Model- ing Agency. Ruth Stingle now operates a dress shop on Fifth Avenue with Margaret Leisgang, Audrey Schmidt, and Elaine Behm as chief designers and Norma Roepcke as alteration woman. Lar Rayne Leyers is managing the Five and Ten Cent Store and Mary Powless is her assistant. Dallas Werner, the famous surgeon, assisted by nurses Mariorie Reynolds and Karleen Rusch, is providing business for Nagel and Klarner, Morticians, Incorporated. iPeople just die to see them.i Burial services are conducted by Rev. Donald Marcks. Pretty Boy Ciesielczyk is star of the Oshkosh All-Stars. Last season he made 754 points and was highest scorer in the world. Because enrollment at Seymour High has increased, Mr. Patchett now needs two secretaries, Jean Lotter and Pearl Wagner fill the positions adequately. Robert Ganzel, Harland Gehl, and Frank Leisgang are bachelors, owners of large farms near Seymour where they raise a unique breed of cats. Lawrence Johns is sports editor of the Chicago Sun with Rosemary Haase as his secretary. Shirley Peotter is fashion editor while Jackie Frisbie has taken over Dorothea Dix's column. Johnny Frisbie has found that it's easier to deal with animals and so has become a veterinarian. Two of our star women investigators, Loretta Kurowski Calias Sherlock! and Edna Kitzinger have uncovered the latest news. They found Duane Wussow-now known as Johnny Banana and the music that a-peels. In his orchestra he has Alvin Olson, Keith Barth, and Gerald Goerl, with Carole Shaw as the torch singer. They are now playing at the Black Dahlia, a classy night club, operated by Pat Reed. Dorothy Wendt is proprietress and hostess of an exclusive restaurant. Beulah Sachs and Betty Land are her waitresses. Pat Klaus has taken Dorothy Lamour's place as the Sarong Girl and Baby Face Braun is owner of the You Get It-We'll Take It gambling ioint. Violet Surman is selling popcorn in the Terrace, famous theatre off Times Square, which is owned by Eugene Gilbert. Another investigator has located Donald Hartleben rustling cattle for Bing Crosby, famous' crooner of our high school days, now retired because of old age. King Jim Braun and Queen Patsy Klaus led the Grand March and last year's queen, Orla Mae Ohm, crowned Patsy the new queen. Members ofthe court of honor were: Bob Rohlotft and Marian Barth, Lee Nagel and Carol George, Alvin Olson and Geraldine Ciha, Le Roy Ciesielczyk and Doris Kimball, and Marvin Rohm and Shirley Severson. The many promenaders danced to the tantalizing music ot Searl Pickett and his orchestra, The sides ot the gym were transformed into scenes of various countries. In one corner couples reclined in tea chairs in a French restaurant. In another, tulips and a windmill took us to Holland in imagination. Sweet peas climbing a picket fence, tall pillars and a stately mansion represented the romantic South. Palm trees, a moon, magnolia trees and orchids brought dreams ot Hawaii, not to mention the grass skirts. There was also a Spanish scene. The evening was a grand success even though the background of our stately Southern mansion collapsed and the punch was so plentiful a large amount was left. Wasn't that punch delicious? When the season closed and the all-conference selections were made, Seymour landed Bob Rohloff, Vic Hein, and LeRoy Ciesielczyk on the first eleven, with Don Wickesberg gaining a second team berth. Don Wickesberg was named captain for the year as the annual football banquet closed the season of I949. The senior players were honored at a banquet at the Shawano County Club along with five other schools. - The Indians dropped their opening game to the Cherry-Pickers of Sturgeon Bay 30-7. Playing host to Kiel, Rohloff and Johns combined to defeat the visitors 2I-0. Against the Papermakers of Kimberly we outplayed them but still took ai20-0 loss. Playing a team that hadn't been beaten for two years, Indians rallied to dump the Omro II 20-7. A lucky break gave the Pulaski Raiders a 7-0 decision. The annual Homecoming against Bonoluel was a heartbreaking 25-20 loss in the tinal three minutes. Playing at Minahan Stadium against the West De Pere Phantoms, Rohloff piled up close to 200 yards, but they licked us 25-I3. The season was completed at Kimberly when Seymour lost to Kaukauna after a tight pitching duel be- tween Cieseczyk and Mahn. This year the team has ten lettermen returnng to form a strong nucleus for the team. Most of the lettermen played during the summer on County League or Legion teams. This experience will help this year. Also, the team is getting new suits to replace the overalls and sweat shirts they used last year. The home games will be played at the Seymour diamond, rather than at Black Creek. This will mgke it more co lenient for the team and also for the student body, , -'J h JV, T948 . Jackie Frisbie, Darlene Roepcke, Loretta Kurowski, Michael Zey, Bob Lepak and Roger Matuszak won prizes for being the best dressed, funniest, prettiest and most handsome hobos. The pep band led the students in a snake dance to the fairgrounds that evening, where a huge homecoming bonfire pre- pared by Rohloff, Johns, and committee, was burning. There the speeches, cheers, and songs of our Senior Pep Rally were led by the cheerleaders. Friday, the parade started at l o'clock. fWe'll miss the fun of getting the floats ready, running around trying to find a pair of scissors, tacks, etc.l Practically every organization in school was represented by a float and prizes for the best floats went to the Freshmen, Science Club, and Sophomores. The Indians, with Rohloff as captain, really gave the Bonduel Bears a fight, lt was a great game though we did lose 24-20. We saw more than one leave the Held in tears. Searl Pickett's orchestra again played for the dance. The grand march, led by Queen Belvina Tyczkowski and King LeRoy Ciesielczyk, included the court of honor: Rosemary Haase, Cyril Klarner, Phyllis Kimball, Terry Brick, Lois Verbeten, and Ken Braun. The gym was decorated to represent the football season with pennants, balloons, bleachers, and goal posts, but probably the highlights of the decorations were the caricatures of Senior players done by Alvin Olson. ?jQi?.5w?Q,-3 mfjwjiyff Efkayiihfkgiiwt bv?-W f3q?ifLW?dwQgf3 Qg9 45 JK xirizau of Attiniti X , w N. Carol George was presi- dent, Marian Barth, vice-president, Shirley Peotter, secretary, Margaret Leisgang, treasurer, Arlene Henke, parliamentarian, Ruby Haas, historian, and Pearl Wagner, reporter. November 9th, girls attended the District Rally at Shiocton. Thirteen schools from Wisconsin participated. Members sold food at football and basketball games and sponsored the movie, The Inside Story. We served at the football banquet and the annual Father-Son Banquet in the fall. At Christmas time we adopted 8 children from the Child Center at Sparta and sent gifts to each. A climax to our year's work was the Mother-Daughter Banquet in May, when girls met each other's mothers and mothers saw what their daughters were doing. it ll 4 Yi o- hff J mfg .J Q. Magazine sales went over with a bang, and the trip to the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago was a lot of fun and educational too. The Basketball season was exceptionally colorful, our suits adding much ot the color. The annual banquet was held December 7, wth 135 fathers and sons attending. Greenhands were raised to Chapter Farmers, and awards were given out. Our swine weighing program has been progressing very well and our annual movie had a very good turnout.
