Clark, Adviserg Nl, Corski, Secretary The lirst semester of the 1956-57 Student Council proved to be a busy one tor its ineln- bers. Under the leadership of Roy Ferguson, many new projects were taken up. Members of the council were hosts to representatives of the 6-A League, which was organized to review various problems of the league schools. The council sponsored inany after-game dances, including benefit dances for the Hun- garian Relief and Polio Funds. A Twirp Week highlighted by 21 Twirp Dance also added to the semesterls activities. Through the school spirit connnittee, the coun- cil did much to arouse interest in the school athletic program. f . CHRISTIAN H. ROOSENRAAD B.A., lNI.A. Principal Hope College University of Michigan Columbia University Mr. Roosenraad, as principal of J. W. Sexton High School, is directly responsible to the Super- intendent of Schools and through him to the Board of Education. He has general supervision of the educational program and personnel of our high school. His aim is to encourage and promote growth and adjustment, both mental and physi- cal, in all students. He maintains close relations with parents and the community, and he par- ticipates actively in local, state, and national professional organizations. Assisting Mr. Roosenraad in carrying out these objectives is Miss Lawry, assistant principal. The supervision of the extra-curricular program is her special responsibility. As director of the counseling program, she assists students in choos- ing colleges and vocations, in securing scholar- ships, and in generally making a good adjustment in Sextion High School. Mr. Shaft, now assistant principal, took over the responsibilities of Mr. Clark at the end of the first semester. He advises the Student Coun- cil and has charge of all problems arising in the field of discipline. He also supervises the at- tendance records throughout the school. F. CASSIUS SHAFT ELIZABETH B.
