VVilson, President: T, Smith, Vice-President The first semester of 1955-55 was a busy one for Student Council members. Under the capable leadership of president Roger Wilson, a number of new projects were initiated. The Council promoted the idea of an all school dress-up day. Students came wearing their Sunday best, manners included. The Council also sponsored many after-game dances, bought two new ping-pong tables for noon recreation, sponsored a student talent assembly, and worked on ideas for improving the appearance of our cafeteria. One of the most important achievements ot the council was an amendment to its constitu- tion to simplify the procedure by which amendments may be made in the future. CHRISTIAN H. ROOSENRAAD B.A., M.A. Principal Hope College University of Michigan Columbia University Mr. Roosenraad, as principal of I. W. Sexton High School, is responsible directly to the Super- intendent of Schools and through him to the Board of Education. He has general supervision of the educational program and personnel of our high school. His aim is to encourage and promote growth and adjustment, both mental and physical, in all students. He maintains close relations with parents and the community, and he participates actively in local, state, and national professional organizations. Assisting Mr. Roosenraad in carrying out these objectives is Miss Lawry, assistant principal. The supervision of the extra-curricular program is her special responsibility. As director of the counseling program, she assists students in choos- ing colleges and vocations, in securing scholar- ships, and in generally making a good adjustment in Sexton High School. Mr. Clark, assistant principal, also fulfills cer- tain responsibilities delegated by Mr. Roosen- raad. He advises the Student Council. He has charge of all problems arising in the field of dis- cipline, and he supervises the attendance records throughout the school. ELIZABETH B.
