Beginning their second year of junior High School the eighth graders reported to the home rooms of Bliss Yonick, Nlr. Decker, Nlr. Vassia. and Mr. Pritts. The Officers elected the previous spring were: President, Robert Vinsickg Vice Presi- dent. Gerald Topinkag Secretary-Treasurer, Linda Dennick. They found they could attend more pep meetings and assemblies this vear, and actively participate in the junior High assemblies. They were well represented on the junior High football team by Ray Critchfield. Noble Milton, Donald Zagar, and Edward Kubic. junior High cheerleaders chosen from their class were Patricia Miller and Mary Ann Zachetti. The junior High basketball games were well attended by the class who cheered just a little harder for the two eighth graders on the team-Richard Cergain and Cary Bartlett. Xlany other eighth graders learned good sportsmanship as a result of their experiences on the junior High basketball and football teams. Other students displayed their talents in Chorus. Orchestra. Rand, and the junior High paper. The eighth grade party was the only social function sponsored by their class. This was held on March 16 with the very appropriate theme of Saint Patrick. Scholastically. the class had their share of students on the honor roll the first semester. They were: Dorothy Suman, Lawrence Ratis, Linda Dennick, Lois Leasure, Patricia Nliller, Karen Sleber, Barbara Zinnners. Rose Ann Kuszaj. judith lieasure, Roxanne Puclayec. and Nancy Sleber. ln spite of their hours of detention and noisy ways. we know they will take their position as freshmen with the usual dignity. Looking lioruard to success. Harriet NVilps. and Evelyn Xeshit. Ou August the 29th. the doors were thrown open to the new seventh graders at Sewicliley Township High School. To the students who came from outlying elementary schools. it was a new and exciting experience. Their shining faces hid their hexvildered thoughts as they searched for their classrooms. After a hectic week, they finally got their schedules straightened out, and soon learned their way around. hut not, however, without a lot of help from their home room teachers. Mrs. Creenwalt, Nlr. Halula, Nlr. Ptodehaugh, Xlr. Nlcllune and Nlr. Lawson. The seventh graders found they had a very full schedule with the junior High curriculum. Besides the academic suhjects. they took gym, art. inusie., horne economics. industrial arts. and lihrarv science. They soon hecaine acquainted and elected as their officers: President. Kathleen Koleshag Vice-President. Nancy Zachettig Secretary- Treasurer, Sandra Lash. and Student Council represeiitatives. Nlelvin Fox. llarriet NVilps. and Evelyn Neshit. Nlany ot the class participated in the hand. chorus, junior High football. and hasltethall. Their honor students for the first semester were inany, nainely: Evelyn Leasure.
