rom our enior C6455 reriiclenf if ik Hi' . it 'A' il? il' iff il' Sf? Dear Seniors: Une of the outstanding topics taught in Seward, is the suhject of how groups can iive together. We were taught that all people, regardless of race or creed, should have an opportunity for advancement. In a way, in spite of many faults, Seward is an example of how different racial groups can get aiong in harmony. I wonder if you feel as frightened as I do to leave the peaceful haven of Seward and face the outside world, a world which is full of raciai hatreds, economic con- iiicts and wars. Vviii we, when confronted with the many unsolved prohiems of the world, have the strength to apply the iessons taught in Seward to our everyday life? will we rememher hefore we cali names that although the person may look different, thinic diilferentiy, we are all hrothers under the skin? Did our teams iooic for the coior of future piayers or did they choose hoys according to their ahiiity' to play? Teachers in Seward have given us the hasic truths in the hope that We will not sleep while forces of prejudices get strong, hut will he able to recognize these, forces and find in our Way the method to 'iight them. One way that we can gain 'certain rights is hy organizing for action. When we are equipped in a few years with the power to vote, we must rnaice sure to put into office men and women who will strive to make our system heneilit all of the people. Ahove ali, iet's iive up to the high standards Seward has set up for us. Although we are a little scared to face the outside world, we can find comfort hy making a solemn vow that the only war we 'fight is a war against poverty, would-he fascists, and those who sow the seeds of racial and religious discrimination. Sincerely, EUGENIA GRIFFITH 7
