Mr. Russell F. Thomas Mr. Samuel Nadler Mr. John Doyle Vice-President District 16 District 'I7 E 2 st f gl District 22 Change is inevitable. No one can dispute that we are living in changing times. You have been advised to prepare yourself for an uncertain, but a better future. How can you best prepare for this? Just as you must study arithmetic before geometry, or a foot- ball player must learn how to handle the ball before there is any point in teaching him complex plays, so must you build a sound basic knowledge from which to progress. This you have been doing in elementary school and in high school. All of you, however, must continue your basic education for many more years. Those of you who go on to college will con- tinue your formal education, But whether you continue this or not, all of you must learn much more than you know now in order to lead useful and happy lives. As you progress, you will find that whether you do or do not learn is your own responsibility. During your school years, regu- lation, teachers, and parents encourage you to study. Afterward, the need is more urgent, but you must supply the initiative. As you mature, your main subject should be yourself. Know yourself. Success may be measured in many ways but true suc- cess is that which is satisfying to you. Learn your own abilities and shortcomings as well as your likes and dislikes. Try to im- prove yourself and above all, know yourself. You can adapt to any change. William E.
