Foreword The most important characteristic marking Central High School District No. 2 in T956-57 is transition-a transition from Sewanhaka to New Hyde Park Memorial, to Elmont Me- morial, to H. Frank Carey, and to A. T. Stan- torth Junior. It looked for a while is it this transition would be complete enough to in- clude Floral Park Memorial. Such transfer of thousands of students, of teachers, of admin- istrative personnel, of supplies absorbed the energies of District Administrators for months. No phase of education in the District was left unaffected. Therefore, the 1957 Totem undertook the staggering challenge of providing the pic- torial record af this transition. Next year, six annuals will record district activities. This transfer has already been accomplished with the publication of five dis- trict newspapers.
