The famous Driver Education Course offered to all Sewanhakans over sixteen years of age is only one of the many specialized courses designed to meet our department's obiectives. In an effort to emphasize the importance of physical and mental health we encourage all students to par- ticipate in our program. Each girl has the opportunity to take part in play days where, through sports, the spirit of friendliness and cooperation between schools develops. Included in this department are three separate divi- sions: Industrial Arts, Vocational, and Technical. Each has a separate obiective. They are: to provide the opportunity for exploration in a variety of occupations, to give advanced training in a specific trade, and to provide a thorough background for students planning to go on to engineering schools, respectively. 4986? The United States Census Bureau tells us that eighty per cent of all girls marry within five years after grad- uation from high school. That means that before long each Sewanhaka girl graduate will probably have the role of American Homemaker. That is the reason for the importance of the Home Economics Department, whose most important aim is that of encouraging good home and family relations. S. H.
