MODERN education is marked by su- perlatives: tremendous undertaking, mil- lions of dollars, bulging enrollments, transportation of thousands, compre- hensive curricula. ln this community, these superlatives must be multiplied by six, for in addition to Sevvanhaka the cit- izens have approved one of the largest bond issues for school construction in the nation. The dominant IlOtC in l9S5-56 is, therefore, expansion-expansion to con- tinue the solid values of education inher- ent in the single session. The Central High School District has also been celebrating a quarter cen- tury of education developed in Sewan- haka. Many persons who have contribut- ed to that tradition have been honored by testimonials, others have been wel- comed into the quarter century group, and some activities have observed the occasions. Accordingly, the 1956 TOTENI opens the second quarter century, introduces the new district staff, reports on the building program, remembers the anniversary cel- ebrations, notes the scholarly achieve- ments of the 25th graduating class, and presents the first Mr. and Miss Totem of the Golden Anniversary cycle.
