' ' r ACH crisis in our National life has its impact on our schools. just prior to the outbreak of communist ag- gression in Korea, this country was experiencing a resur- gence of public interest in education that was bringing results in improved facilities for a sounder educational pro' gram. Wfe are now most deeply concerned with an international 1 situation that seems to threaten our very way of life. But while we exert every effort to meet this threat, we must still devote energy to our educational system which is one of the foundations of this way of life. Here at Sewanhaka we are fortunate that we have a back- ground of solid educational achievement. Much that we have done has served as a goal for which others strive. But we are as much in danger of stagnation as others if we fail to keep abreast of our growing needs. We are now engaged in the acquisition of land to develop a junior high school program in keeping with the best edu- cational thought of the country. It is the hope of the Sewan- haka Board of Education that plans for the use of this land may be speedily unfolded and that they may have the solid support of our citizens for the relief of conditions in our present schools and the continued excellence of our service to the youth of the community.
