Along wirh lhese advances Sewanhalca is also making progress in radio. To one group, lhe Radio Advisory Commillee, are we indebled for l-his advance al Sewanhalca High School. ln l942 when rhe sl'uden+'s in'reres+ in radio began +o grow, Dr. Sranforfh aslced if Sewanhalca migh+ nor have an Advisory Commil- +ee in rhe radio deparlmenr. Now in +he few shor+ years since ir has been organized +he Radio Advisory Commirlee has a record 'ro be proud of. A+ firsr only one small room was lurned over +0 'rhe s+uden+s of radio bur +his was soon found ro be insufficient Then room 229 began 'ro be lcnown as rhe Radio Room and now we boasr of a special radio corrage as well. ' As individuals 'rhe members of rhe advisory commi++ee made many radio conveniences for +heir homes. ln a group rhey have made a radio sfalion for Nassau Counly. The call leHers are-W. E. R. S. They did nol' siop lhere. A broadcasrinq s'ra'l'ion on which edu- carional and enlerraining programs will be fransmilled +o ofher schools from Sewanhalca is being self up. A club of Sewanhalca has donaled rwelve hundred dollars for lhis purpose and wi+h il' fhe commilree has 'purchased an FM +ransmil'+er from +he Radio Cor- porafion of America.
