' 1 If no 'Ns if FOOTBALL IN TEL MAKING As the first football season in the History of Seville School came to a close, the general opinion around the town was that it was a fairly successful one. Although the six-man team was just getting started, with little or no experience, upwards of 300 pe ople attended the home games Seville had been lucky enough to secure a good football coach in Robert Heller, who built the team to increasing strength as the season went along Seville had had only one week of practice before our first game at Sharon and thus lost it by a score of 45-O. It was a nightmare of a football game for the Flashes, as the lack of practice showed on the brand of football we played The following game was against Lodi, and this one also played away from home, It was a rough contest all the way and at the end of the half it was Lodi 33, Seville O. But after the inter mission Seville completely outplayed them to make the final score 33-12 The next game was a sweet one for us to win, because it was against Sharon and gave us some revenge for our earlier loss to them. In this one, played here on our field back of the school house, we won on a last minute touchdown by Charles Detwiler on an intercepted pass. he caught in on their 15 yard line and went all the way to score standing up. It was his second touchdown of the game and made the final score 12-6. We lost the last game against Lodi by a score of S2-28, after a good fight, to end our initial football season. The boys who played on Seville's first football team were Dave, Huffman, Art Clevidence, Bob Bistor, Jack Baker, Duke Harold, and Bob Beck on the line. In the backfield were Eugene Rhoads, Chuck Detwiler, Donnie Allen, Joe Short, Chuck Taylor, Charles Belle and Bill Beeman.
