FOURTH ROW: Coach Lowell Moore, Larry t Mike Hogan Rod Quick Rick Polm Jamie Sanders Coach Coyne NOT PRESENT: Earl Cole, Kurt Morley, Ro Harrison. The Junior Varsity football team chalked up one of its best seasons ever by posting a 7 win, l loss record and tying for the County Junior Varsity Championship with Annapolis. The team shut out all but two of their opponents, and ran their winning streak to l3 games before the streak was snapped by Arundel for the JV,s only loss of the season. The defense was the backbone of the club, scoring six safeties in its first seven games, many of the safeties were directly responsible for Fal- con touchdowns a few minutes later in the game. The defense used a 5-4-2 setup to good effect. Chris Carter played the Middle Guard position with Carlton Coates and Bob Diedrich flanking him at Tackle. Rod Quick and Cliff Watkins played at End, backed up by Ro Harrison and Mark Larsen at Cornerback. Bob Shillinglaw and John Zimmerman were the Linebackers with Mike Thompson and Dennis Lowe playing at Safety. Coach Lowell Moore felt that the team worked so well as a unit that it would be impossible to pick out any individual stars, but he said that his Tri-Captains, Mark Larsen, Bob Shillinglaw and Mike Thompson showed outstanding leadership. The offensive lineup had Mike Hogan and Jamie Sanders at End with Dave Ramsey and Larry Jackson at Tackle, Dave Spink and Wayne Dunham playing at Guard, and Mark Larsen holding down center. At the Quarterback position Jim Wood played well. Behind him were ranged Halfbacks Dennis Lowe and Harold Young, and Fullback Mike Thompson. Young was the most consistent ground gainer for the Falcons. The team used a Split T formation as most of their yardage came on running plays. Two Freshmen who would have seen extensive action during the sea- son except for injuries were Richard Hammond and Steve Wagner.
