Although lightly regarded before the season, the Varsity lacrosse team posted an 8-2 record overall and finished second to St. Mary's in the Falcons first year of play in the Southern Maryland Lacrosse League. The Falcons owned a 3-1 mark in the league, but st. Ma.ry's had played one more game and w on the championship with a 4-1 record. laoh Meachem was third in the state of Maryland in scoring with 29 goals. Severna Park opened its 1967 season with a come-from-hehindvietory over Episcopal in a game played in Alexandria, virginia. Trailing 4-3 at the half-time intermission, the Falcons scored three goals early in the third period and another in the fourth to win 7-5. In their first league game, against Brooklyn Park, the Falcons scored a decisive 9-1 win. Bob Meacham hit the goal six times to bring his season total to ten in two games. The team lost its first game to st. Ma.ry's 4-3. The loss to the eventual champions was Sevema Park 's only defeat in league play. The score was tied 2-2 at the half, but the third quarter was the decider with st. Mary's outscoring the Falcons 2-1. The Falcons lost to Park School 12-3 in a non-league game played in Baltimore. Severna Park held a 2-0 lead at the con- clusion of the first period, but Park scored five goals in both the second and third periods to establish the winning margin. Their second league win came as they rolled to an 11-2 victory over Glen Burnie. Bob Meachem scored three goals bringing his cumulative total to 19. Severna Park defeated the United States Military Academy Prep 9-S in an exciting game. The Falcons held a 6-2 lead at the half, hut a spirited come back attempt by the military school closed the gap to ti-6 at the end of the third quarter and 9-s before time finally ran out. In a non-league return match against st. Marys, Severna Park took a 5-2 win avenging their earlier loss to the Annapolis school. Again the two teams played to a 2-2 tie through the first half, and again the third quarter decided the outcome of the game, but this time the Falcons scored two goals and added a third in the fourth period to chalk up a win, Against Chestertovm, the t e am scored a resoundingll-O victory as Meachem hit the goal six times to match his season high. The Falcons had a 6-o lead by the end of the first half and kept right on enlarging it until the end of the game. Severna Park won its final league game by defeating arch-rival Annapolis, 6-2. The Panthers did not score until there were less than four minutes left in the gameg by that time the Falcons had run up a commanding lead. The Falcons closed their season as they opened it with a win over Episcopal. This time the game was played at Falcon Field with the home team winning 4-2 as Bob Meachem ran his season total to 29 goals by scoring twice. 22

Seconds later in the bottom picture the two players are scrambling for control of the ball as the other midfielders close in the ball is temporarily betw e e n Hasfurther's feet.
