Nrzfivmz! Honor Srfciafy Students who have a high scholastic average, a strong character, leadership ability, and have rendered service to the school are eligible for the National Honor Society. The Honor Society started a new proiect that it hopes will be repeated in future years. Four scholarships were awarded at graduation, one for each of the outstanding students in character, leadership, scholarship, and service. Quill and Scroll The Quill and Scroll is a national journalistic hon- or society. Membership is awarded for substantial and outstanding contribu- tions to journalistic issues. Eligible students must be juniors or seniors and have worked on EMBERS, TAL- ON, and CAULDON staffs. The members are from left to right: Betty Larson, Bob VanHouten, Maureen Ray, Dave O'Brien, and Anne Lovell. Url-H1-If As a YMCA sponsored organization, the Tri-Hi-Y endeavors to create, main- tain and extend, through- out the home, school, and community high standards of Christian character. The Club completed sev- eral service proiects and guest speakers aided , the members in choosing a col- lege and obtaining summer employment. Parties and other social affairs rounded out the year. A l68 ffl-Z! T ln the second year of its existence the Hi-Y particiQ pated in school and YMCA sponsored activities. Ther Club sent a delegate to al district convention in Dela-l ware and raised money for a world service proiect. This past year was one of growth in membership and prestige tor the Club. in
