V. Hoover 1TH the largest and hardest schedule in the history of Severn School ever attempted by a team of this weight the 118-pounders went through their best season by winning five, tying one and losing two games. In the opening tilt of the season with Friends School, Severn outplayed their opponents winning by a 35-0 score. This game was marked by a large number of penalties given to Severn for motion in the backfield, and by the fact that the newly organized 105-pound team was given a chance to play in its first game against a team that was much heavier than the little Severnites. In the second conflict of the schedule Severn met a reverse by losing to McDonogh 31-0. Had it not been for McDonogh's passing attack Severn would probably have won this game. The 118-pounders continuously made ground thru their opponents line and around the ends, but due to inexperience they fumbled at the crucial moment with McDonogh recovering the ball. With the defeat of the previous week still fresh in their minds revenge was sought in the game with Gilman which Severn won 20-0. This game like the first Friends' game was marked with 125 yards in penalties given to Severn for motion in backlield and holding. Witlu spirit still rising, the next journey was to McDonogh, Md., where the most thrilling and hardest fought junior football game was enacted. Here Wwww. It ended the season with no defeats. The 150 s opened up their season at home in a game played against St. Paul. The team won a hard earned victory by the score of 14-2. St. Paul scored a safety in the last few minutes to play when Wesson had been taken out of the game because of an injured shoulder. The next game was played at Gilman with Severn coming out on top. This was the first league game and the team did well to win it by 12-0. McDonogh invaded Severn for the third game and attempted to stop the Maroons winning streak but in vain. Severns two backs Dougherty and Teel starred in this game and be ween the pair they ran up a 19-0 score. Both players seemed to have the knack of intercepting forward passes for exceedingly successful results. The team then made a journey to St. Paul. In this game the DeBellites came from behind to win out by the score of 13-7. November 12 saw Gilman a much weakened team through the loss of three of its best players defeated by Severn in a game played here. The whole squad saw service in this game which was an overwhelming victory L F' ' jf' I S 1 2- Q e A3 Q Q S- and Wheel G -1-- -1 E X 2 t y we E ,ff N E i Q E S E Q A ' 1 Q . In c S Q Q R S E E X.
