The team won seven, tied one, and lost two, those two being at the termination of the season, andone of them a non-league game with an A squad team. Indeed it was a raw team that trotted onto the field at Carroll Park when Severn played its first game against Southern High School. Both teams were rather inexperienced but put up a good fight. In the early part of the game Severn scored a touchdown after marching nearly the whole length of the held. Shortly after the beginning of the second half Southern blocked a punt and scored a safety. stride and scored two goals with their extra points in rapid succession. All in all the season was closed in a most satisfactory and emphatic manner. We had a great team a fighting team' a band of boys who deserve to be called Champions of Maryland. Reed Cutter and Schumann were selected on the All Maryland scholastic team. This was indeed a capping climax to so successful a football season. Halsted satisfied with the score sent in the reserves to finish out the game The first home game for the Maroon and White team resulted in an other victory and a well earned one at that Gilman the State Champions were defeated in a none conference game by a single touchdown The next home game was indeed a track meet The City College team was put to flight before a 28 0 score Nibbs and Nophsker deserve special credit for the fine work they did in this game The only scoreless tie of the season was played when Severn met Tome at Tome Playing on a slippery field neither team seemed to have the neces sary fight to score Severn had the ball the majority of the time and usually in Tomes territory Holt and Nibbs played the best all around games for Severn although the line did well to hold the heavier Tome team Playing the best game of the season the junior Varsity downed St joe in a conference game 18 0 The team worked just like a well oiled machine with perfectly timed interference and splendid line cooperation Coach Halsted used his reserve team for the most part in the game with Forrest Park although the only score was made while the regulars were in Playing another game the same week the team whitewashed Poly by a 32 0 victory Nibbs Sullivan and Holt managed to gain ground on nearly every play in this game with disastrous results for Poly. The hardest game for the junior Varsity was the Championship Game with Gilman. In a practice game with Gilman played at Severn the home team was victorious by a 6-0 score. When the team journeyed to Roland Park to play the Championship Game everything was in fine shape except for thefact that Atkins the sturdy fullback was under the handicap of a recent injury. Gilman was imbued with a fighting spirit which finally won them the game. Early in the first part of the game Captain Woodward star fullback for Gilman went through for the first score. The Severn team seemingly not to be outdone scored on the next two plays. After Nophsker had run forty yards for the score Holt added a point which gave Severn a lead. After a misunderstanding by the Severn backfield men which netted Gilman a touchdown after the Grey team had recovered a fumble, the Maroon and White team again ran into difficulty. This time Gilman blocked a kick deep in their own territory, and soon scored. Although it was a tough game to lose, the team took it in a sportsman- like manner. Nibbs and Nophsker played fine games for Severn, both offen- sively 'and defensively. fPage 541 Whwhhwwm WW WNWYWWWWWWWWNVWWW WWYW 3' 3 Z 4 3 Z 4 4 4 f f ? 4 Z , Z 5 5 4 Z Z 4 Z Z 9 4 ? 2 'WHwrwwwwrwmmwxwwxwwwWW
