CLASS HISTORY Durmg September 1952 the school bell aga1n tolled as lt had been tollmg for many years at Seventy f11'St H1gh School But there was a new s1gn1f1cance 1n the rrngmg th1s tlme to a cer ta1n group of boys and glrls known as the Freshmen Yes the new crop of green Freshmen had f1nally made 1t' What a new expemence for us who were lxterally scared st1fP of the upperclassmen' But Oh' The poor teachers who ga1necl some more gray hamrs trylng to teach us to be more llke adults and less l1ke ch1ldren' Mrs Warren Mrs Mcl-'adyen Mr M11ler and Mr McKethan were our homeroom teachers However 1n September 1953 the graduated Freshmen entered the sophomore class a llttle less excrted but st1ll wrth plenty of v1gor Just ask our homeroom teachers that year Mrs Longest and Mrs McFadyen' Our act1v1t1es that year mcluded serv1ng at the Jumor Senror banquet and JO1X111 Lg the honored Beta Club Then before we knew lt we found ourselves 1n the Jun1or class We were all so anxxous to undertake our two projects for the year the Hallowe en Carn1val and the .Tumor Senlor Banquet under the sponsorshlp of Mrs Pxgott and Mrs Howard The carnu al was very successful and we thought our banquet theme The Garden of Tomorrow was just the greatest' Our .lumor Class Offrcers were Bobby Barefoot Pres1dent Kay Barefoot V1ce Pres1dent Fay M1ller Secretary Pdtr1C1a Harrls Treasurer The marshalls were Patr1c1a Harms Fay M11 ler Norma Fraz1er Mad1e Sp1res Rhodes Dorxs Parker and Harold Fall September 1955' we had at last become Sen1ors' Th1S meant enjoylng Senlor pr1v1leges re cervmng our class r1ngs ordermg our 1nv1tat1ons and all the other act1v1t1es that Sen1ors enjoy we could go to New York rfwe could ra1se the money We at once began to make plans to 1mprove our f1nanc1al status by sellmg magazmes sponsorlng a basketball game and plannlng two sup pers Our class ofhcers are Bobby Barefoot Pres1dent Patr1c1a Harrrs Vrce Pres1dent Fay M1ller Secretary Eugene McKethan Treasurer Mrs Mary Sm1th 1S our sponsor Now we reallze the year 1S almost gone and we shall soon be graduatlng lt seems so satlsfy 1ng to know that one lmportant goal 1n l1fe has been reached yet so saddemng to know that our hlgh school days our class fellowsh1p and yes for some of us even our schoollng w1ll soon be brought to an end lt 15 lmposslble to express 1n words our heart felt grat1tude to our teachers our classmates our mxnlsters our fam1l1es and our commun1ty for the many contr1but1ons they have generously glven us We shall never forget Seventy flrst and we shall always cherlsh the flne 1eadersh1p w1th whlch we haxe so wonderfully been blessed whlle attend1ng Seventy f1rst School Patrlcxa Harms OFFICERS Pres1dent Bobby Barefoot Vrce Presldent Patr1c1a Harrrs Secretary Fay Mlller Treasurer Eugene McKethan MASCOTS Susan Braswell Wayne Grooms nigw Q f Motto God helps those who help themselves Q I Colors P1nk and Lavender J N'-fy 9- Flower Carnat1on W SENIOR SPONSOR Mrs Mary Sm1th V - Y ..
