of them using human shields. On 4 December, the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Division, count- ed its survivors in Hagaru-ri. Only 181 officers and men of the original 1,053 remained. Losses were just as severe all along the line. By 7 December, Hagaru-ri had become an evacuation point and into it streamed the heartbroken remnants of the task force and of other infantry divisions trapped also by the Red Wave.
