Our first objective was Seoul, capital of the Republic of Korea and a real prize in this touch-and- go ight. The fight for Seoul was brief but bitter. By Septem- Col. On Sept. 8, 1945, the 17th Infantry Regiment flater named the Buffalo Regiment after Colonel William Quinn who was affectionately known as Buffalo Bill J led the other Cp Russell Grail manning clippers-Pfc. Joseph Tono, the customer. Sefiing up defense positions on the front lines. units of the Division ashore at Inchon to take over the occupation of Korea. Three years later in 1948 the 7th Division had moved to Japan. Thus the September 17, 1950, landing at Inchon was a homecoming for many of the veteran division members. But this time the arrival at Inchon was different. There were no banners to greet us, no grateful citizens waving us ashore. This time the 7th came in LST's and landing barges and poured ashore in battle gear.
