This frigid War seemed near its end. Two nights later the Chinese offensive was unleashed. During the next five days, youngsters were to become seasoned fighting men. Many were to become heroes. Many more were to die in the freezing cold they had learned to hate. This offensive marked the beginning of one of the most brutal and intensive battles in the Korean campaign.
