Descending the ridgeline leading south from Hill 1062 and moving in the direction of 598 was an entire bat- talion of Reds. The observer leaped for a phone and yelled a warn- ing. An air strike had just dumped an entire load of bombs on a nearby target and it was ordered to assist immediately. The planes screamed low over the hill and strafed the enemy line. Chinks whirled and fell under the guns of the attacking planes and the attack was dispersed along the hillside. The 17th Regiment's 2nd Battalion, meanwhile, had Souvenirs for the folks back home.
