On 26 January, the Bayonet Division launched a full-scale attack on Pyongchang which was finally taken after bitter fighting by the Buffalo Regiment. The 17th was then moved to the West and the 31st Infantry en- tered Pyongchang. The 32nd was assigned to secure the MSR and patrol the entire area. ROK units during this time began offensive attacks along the Division flank. Once Pyongchang was cleaned out, the 17th and 31st Regiments took over the job of conducting limited ob- jective attacks against the Communists to prevent any of the offensive units from overextending their lines. This operation conformed with the Eighth Army policy of limited advance. To carry out this operation, the Buffalo Regiment organized Task Force White, an artillery-infantry group supported by an infantry-tank team which was to support the ROK troops on the Divi- sion's left flank. Task Force White moved north through Wonju and Hoengsong. The 31st developed a Pte. Jack G. North searches for the obiect that has attracted his dog's Arlo attention.
