The history as it is written by the Seniors of 1963 is exciting enough for a T.V.program entitled The Class of '63. Let us now review the program. The program was made up of four short acts and three brief commercials, during which fun was advertised. The program was written by the Seniors of '63. It was directed by Mr. Mark Herring, Ir. with the help of the parents and friends of the Seniors. It had an outstanding all star cast. The scenes took place in the Seven Springs High School, its classrooms, auditorium and gymnasium. As the program began, thirty actors called Freshmen took their places on the screen.One.of the most important events in this act was the election of class officers who were: Merle Thompson, President, johnny Raiford, Vice-President, Geraldine Strickland, Secretary, Betty Lou Mozingo, Treasurer, Barbara Adams and Jerry Sutton, Reporters. After our first brief commercial, we saw the second act. There were fewer actors because of difficulties beyond our control. The first event of this act was the election of class officers. They were: Johnny Raiford, President, Wayne Edwards, Vice-President, Barbara Adams, Secretary, Geraldine Strickland, Treasurer, Jerry Sutton and Violet Sasser, Reporters. Another highlight of this act was that many of our cast because of outstanding ability made the Beta Club. After another short commercial during which all had fun, we resumed our program with even fewer actors. The actors were now known as ,Iuniors. They elected officers for the third act. They were: Johnny Raiford, President, Barbara Adams, Vice-President, Gay Adams, Secretary,Betty Lou Mozingo, Treasurer5Vio1et Sasser and Jesse Outlaw, Reporters. The cast worked hard to make this a good act. They raised money in various ways. This they used to give a banquet to the Seniors of 1962. The theme of the banquet was Song-In-My-Heart which was carried out with a pink and white decorations. We also presented our class play, Everything Happens to Us which was a great success. Several juniors received special honors during commencement. The marshals were Jesse Outlaw, Jr., chief, Gay Adams, Geraldine Strickland, William Price and Violet Sasser. After a final commercial, we all returned with a cast of twenty to begin our Senior year at Seven Springs High School. We elected our class officers as follows: Johnny Raiford, President, Gay Adams, Vice-President, Barbara Adams, Secretary, Betty Lou Mozingo, Treasurer, Doris Williams and Jerry Sutton, R6-1pOrteI'S. One ofthe most thrilling scenes in this actwas the day we received our class rings. We chose two new members of our c ast. They were our mascots, Emily Coor and jack Ward. We chose blue and white for ou.r class colors, the gladiolus for our flowery and The higher we climb the brighter the view for our class motto. Another exciting day was the one on which we elected our Homecoming Queen and attendants. Barbara Adams received the honor of queen and Betty Mozingo and Merle Thompson the honor of attendants. Our Halloween king and queen were Gary Sanderson and Violet Sasser. The banquet, given to us by the juniors in early May, was a beautiful affair which was enjoyed by all. The last scene in which all the actors appeared was graduation. Each senior appeared briefly before the crowded audience and received his reward for a job well done. This scene was a little sad for we knew we had completed one of the happiest periods of our lives. We left the program with a feeling of accomplishment and looked forward to the new program called THE FUTURE. DORIS WILLLAMS Historian 16' :R ZZMWMWJW We the Seniors of 1963, in the town of Seven Springs, the county of Wayne, the state of North Carolina being in good mental condition as usual, and in much better temper than usual, do hereby make this our Last Will and Testament. BARBARA ADAMS Testatrix 17 As I read over my past year's edition of the RAMQBLING SPECIAL, I see many of my former classmates' names and pictures. The first name I see is MARSTON BARWICK'S. He has just become a highway patrolman. He will be put with Sergeant BOBBY SINGLETON, who is in command of the Patrol Station in Seven Springs. Next I see that JESSE OUTLAW, JR. has got another contract to design a bank for JERRY SUTTON. They are doing very well in their businesses. As I turn the page I see SYLVIA PARK'S picture. She has just developed anodaer hair style. Isee that MERLE THOMPSON is one of her models. I also see GARY SANDERSON'S name.He has just finished another picture forWarner Brothers.Incidentally WILLIAM PRICE, a C,P.A., is his business manager. I see DURWOOD WHITMAN has just bought the subway that goes from Seven Springs to La Grange. VIOLET SASSER is his private secretary. They have their pictures on the front page. I also see a picture of BARBARA ADAM'S basketball team. They have not lost a game this year. WAYNE WILLIAMSON'S picture is on the sport's page also. He just won a gold medal for winning the one hundred yard dash. As I read on I see MRS. GAYE ADAMS and MRS. BETTY LOU LANCASTER'S pictures. Gaye, who is the Chief of Staff at Seven Springs General Hospital is handing Betty her Doctor's Degree of Pediatrics. Looking on through the edition, I see JOYCE DAVENPORT and PATTY CAUDELL'S names. They saved a baby's life at Seven Springs General Hospital where they are registered nurses. On the ads section I see that GERALDINE STRICKLAND has hats on sale. She is the owner of the Style Shop in town. I also see BECKY HfERRING'S picture with her husband. They own a big cattle ranch out in Texas now. It is about time for the press to start on tomorrow's paper.I see DORIS WILLIAMS, who writes the gossip column has just come into my office. Now I must start on tomorrow's edition of RANIBLING SPECIAL, because I am the owner and editor of it. JOHNNY RAIFORD Prophet 'glam yawn Tonight's the night we've been waiting for, For such a long, long time And yet we know we'll shed some tears For what we must leave behind. We've shared many joys throughout the years Along with the sorrow too We find it amazing, the things we did As we from childhood grew. So to thee we say our last farewell Our dearest friend of all The things wc-'ve learned and the things we've shared Will remain in the memory filled walls. Yes, we're leaving dear ole Seven Springs High And yet in our hearts we know That the memory of the joys we've shared Will linger where'er we go. ' BETTY MOZINGO Class Poetess 18 Q7 ' J 9904! . BETTER WORK MAKES BETTER JOBS You can't keep a good man down is an adage which holds water. Highschool graduates are all good men, tilled with enthusi- asm and the desire to make good in lite. You can put TO high school graduates to work in the same department of a company- each doing the same kind of work and with the same opportunity to learn and advance. At the end of a year, two or three will be at the top of their group -the rest will be where they started. Why? Because real value always rises to the top. The more you put into a iob,the more you get out ot it.You must give more to your iolos before you can expect more out of them.Maintain at all times a positive, constructive, progressive attitude toward your job. Always think in terms ot how things can he done-never in terms of why they cannot. DU PONT DE NEMOURS 81 CO KINSTON PLANT KINSTON, NORTH CAROLINA A D. M.
