Class History We entered school in September, 1949, with Miss Ella Gillerlain as our teacher. During the elem entary grades we learned the usual subjects of English, reading, writing, arithmetic, and a few social studies. In May, 1957, we graduated to high school. We could not have done it without the help of our teachers. They are as follows: First Grade--Miss Ella Gillerlain Second Grade--Mrs. Louise Gurley and Mrs. Betsy Martin Third Grade--Mrs. George Casteen Fourth Grade--Mrs. Horace Shivar Fifth Grade--Mrs. Morgan McKinny and Miss Evelyn Wrenn Sixth Grade--Mrs. Russell Kornegay Seventh Grade--Mr. C. L. Turpin and Mr. Jim Dunigan Eighth Grade--Mr. Mark Herring, jr. In 1958, we entered high school with Mr. W. L. Creel as our sponsor. The highlight of our freshman year was a trip to Kenne1's Beach with Mr. Creel. We went swimming and had a Weiner roast afterwards. Mr. Hubert McClenny was our tenth grade sponsor. During our sophomore year we had several parties which every- one enjoyed very much. Under the guidance of Mr. Gerald Waters, our junior year was a very eventful one. For a money making project, we had a tobacco drive and we also sold flower bulbs. The most enjoyable event of our junior year was the junior-Senior Banquet which the juniors gave the seniors at Hotel Goldsboro. Our senior sponsors were Mrs. Imogene Price and Mr. W. L. Creel. V The arrival of our class rings in October was a great thrill to everyone. The greatest task of our senior year was the SESPRISCHOAN which took many hours of work. On May 30, 1961, we graduated from high school with feelings of both joy and sadness. No more are we a part of the student body, but we will always cherish the memories of our school years at Seven Springs High School. PAULA MOZINGO Historian Class Prophecy This is the year 1971. I, MARIE VINS ON, am a hostess on the Trans-World Airlines. Each year on my Spring vacation I visit each of my classmates to make an annual report on the graduating class of 1961. The pilot of the plane happens to be BUDDY SMITH and the owner of the airlines is EMORY DALY. The first place I visit is my home town, Seven Springs. My favorite motel there is PRICE'S, owned by GENEVA PRICE. Her two first-class helpers are LINDA HOWELL and LA VERNE PRICE. The next thingl do is rent a car from ALLEN GARRIS'S Rental Auto Service. The schools in Wayne Cotuity have been consolidated now. PEARL ADAMS is principal at the Seven Springs Elementary School and CLAYTON GARRIS is principal at the high school. When visiting Grady's Crossroads, I saw a large brick home on one corner and a huge stock market on another. By the way they're owned by JAKE PRICE. just a short distance from there, there's another nice home where ANNETTE GRADY and her husband live. Annette seems to like the job of housekeeping. In Mt. Olive the top movie place is the Clear-Vue owned by BETH HEAD. She says the top movie is one in which one of our classmates is the star. KENNETH HOWELL has made the star he started out to be. Next stop is Grantham where FAYE WEAVER resides with her husband who is Vo-ag teacher there. When coming from Grantham, I see Daly's General Store. PAULA MOZINGO is chief clerk there5wonderwhy?WAYNE HOLMES has a farm near Daly's Store, He had the highest tobacco average in the community last year. In Duplin County the Ford Company is owned by GENE I-IINSON and his wife is his secretary. This covers every one living in North Carolina. Next state and stop is Darlington, South Carolina, LARRY ROUSE is the top driver of the Darlington '500. In Kentucky, I visited ALMA MOORE. She is a nurse at a general hospital. VIRGINIA JACKSON has moved to Tennessee with her husband where he is a mechanic. The two famous chemists of our times are the SUTTON Brothers, KENNETH and MICHAEL They re researching at Cape Canerval, Florida with DOROTHY CAROL PRICE as their assistant MAYNARD PRICE owns a cattle farm in Texas and DONALD STROUD is top rider at the rodeos there ELNA IARMAN is pianist for top smgers in California In Hawaii are ROSELEEN BROWN and NANCY KING They re with their husbands who are naval officers In New York ALLEN DEAVER plays the -role of Perry Mason on T V NINA STROUD IS a model in New York She says the sack dresses are coming back in style BOBBY GRADY IS a professor at Virginia State College FORREST DUNBAR also resides in Virginia Forrest has an unusual occupation, doing nothing MARIE VINSON Prophetess l . . -- , . . . 0 .
