Y ln-Q A Salutatary I, as salutatorian, speak on behalf of the members of the Senior Class of 1959 in welcoming you tonight to our graduation exercise. It is indeed a warm welcome that we extend to the faculty, school board, friends, schoolmates, relatives, and most of all - to our beloved parents who have made it possible for us to have an honored place on this stage tonight. As we walk up, 'one by one, to re- ceive our long-awaited diplomas, we shall bring to an end our high school days. Then we shall turn our faces toward the future. But what lies a- head for each of us is unknown for we shall meet our destiny little by little. We feel that we have learned so much during our twelve long years of school. We feel that now we are pre- pared to meet what-ever obstacles we might be confronted with. But are we? Are we fullyprepared to shoul- der the heavy responsibilities of adult life? Are we emotionally strong enough to go about solving our most difficult problems in a calm, yet thorough and intelligent manner ? We do sincerely believe that our high school training will surely prove valuable as we attempt to perform our duties to ourselves, our loved ones, our country, and to all man- kind. But yet, we realize that we have so much more to learn. Much of this we shall learn by our mistakes 5 but actually, what better way is there to learn lessons which we can never forget? We knowthat our climb toward suc- cess in whatever we choose to do will be a long, weary one. But we have warm courage and high hopes for the future. And if we retain the confi- dence and understanding of each of you here tonight, we shall most cer- tainly put forth our best efforts and the results will surely prove favor- able. So, in welcoming you here tonight, we are hoping that during this grad- uation exercise you, too, will be sharing our sweet memories of the past and the inward excitement and happiness of this great day. May you look forward with us as we dwell on thoughts of what tomorrow may bring. May you share with us our happiness, our sadness, and our hopes of lives filled with only the very best of every- thing good. Again, we bid each of you a most cordial welcome. Salutatorian Edna Grace Price
