F,.,. . 1173 W Y 'Walnut DUVFW HISTORY ln l939, 49 bashful ambitious students entered Seven Springs School under the supervision of Miss Ella Gillerlain. Alyce Price, Evelyn Lamm, Joyce Head, Nannie Daly, Janet Price, Janet Ward, Edna Griffin, Chester Sutton, Edwin Holmes and Bryant Shivar completed school together. Richard Whitfield joined in the third grade and Kenneth Beasley in the fifth. lnez Sullivan and Patty Price were transferred from Indian Springs to our class in the seventh grade. Our eighth grade, under the supervision of Mr. Wilbur Williams, was very successful. Forty-one students graduated from grammar school that year, the beginning of four happy years. Mr. Alvin Suggs was our teacher during our Freshman year. Exams were soon over and we were promoted to the tenth grade. Mrs. Damon Fields was our teacher. Then we became Juniors under Mrs. Ellen Gray. During that year we enjoyed class parties and the Junior-Senior Banquet. We were very successful in producing the Junior Play, No Bride for the Groom . In the fall of l95O we came to school as Seniors. Mrs. Gertrude Scott was our most efficient guide and adviser. Our class officers were Alyce Price, President, Chester Sutton, Vice-President, Edna Griffin, Sec- retary, Bryant Shivar, Treasurer, Catherine Potter and Edwin Holmes, Reporters. We selected Mesdames Alton Daly and E. L. Potter for our Grademothers. Our mascots were Jackie and Jeannie Price, and Heber and Teddy Hunt. The fourth edition of the Sesprischoan was a great success. Janet Ward was the editor, and Mrs. Gertrude Scott was the sponsor. Then came the exciting month of May. By the time we had taken our exams, we were practising the graduation exercises, and were receiving our diplomas. Graduation was over and the time had come for us to separate. On May 30, I95I we graduated from Seven Springs looking ambitiously into the future. ALYCE PRICE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the members of the Senior Class of Seven Springs High School, being of sound mind and body, do declare this to be our Last Will and Testament. We, Nannie Daly and Alyce Price, leave all our rights of the Bouncer Club to Mr. Waters. We hope he will be more understanding with the club. I, Patty Price, will my ability to slip off and not get caught to Robbie Kornegay. We, Catherine Potter and Evelyn Lamm, bequeath our ability to keep secrets to Tempie Faye Creech and Lucille Williams. I, Virginia Fields, will my curly hair to Louise Price, so she won't have to curl her hair to have her picture taken. I, Chester Sutton, leave my iolly nature and ability to get along with people to Rex Price. I, Joyce Head, leave my ability to get along with everybody to the incoming Junior Class, knowing they will need it next year. I, Edna Wyse Griffin, will all my ability to play basketball to the future ninth grade. Be sure to use it and win some games. I, Edwin Holmes, bequeath my extra height to Donald Davenport so he will make a better basketball player. Q I, Inez Sullivan, leave my ability to laugh in any class to Rachel Moore. Get more fun out of school, Rachel. We, Janet Ward and Janet Price leave our ability to pass the School Bus test after three attempts, to anyone who happens to be that unlucky. I, Bryant S.hivar, leave my ability to get acquainted with all the girls to Theodore Tilghman and Pic- colo Pete Jones. fwrwwwwswvvr'
