4. ..,.pl,. ,, 0, .Tzwfpfzecy Dear Mr. Moore, I, Bill Malcom, Senior Class president of 1954, now head football coach at Western College for Women, at Oxford, Ohio, recently completed a trip around the world. During this lavish extravaganza, I came into contact with the members of the class of '54. While in California, on the first leg of my trip, Ifound Gordon Adams and Lois Goble, professors at the Eugene Bell University of Marine Science. I rode back to the hotel in ataxi driven by Marilyn Baker, who drives for Coleman Davidson, owner of the largest fleet of cabs in the world. Marilyn informed me that Cordelia Drake. Evelyn Andrews, and Lita Vogelsong were also employed as cab drivers by Coleman Cabs of Hollywood. David Bryant, president of the Don Cox Screw and Nut Factory, took me for a ride on his yacht, piloted by Admiral John Cole, USN Retired. Rudolf Valenbrewer, alias Ted Brewer, the great lover for Paramount Studios, stopped by my suite in the Richard Doughman Hotel. Ted took me out to dine at the Ron Rhodus Road House, where I was shocked to see Marlene Dozier and Charlotte Corrill entertaining as bubble dancers. On the same program, I saw Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Howse, nee Jean Decker, now known as Les and Mary Howse, the singing rages. Music was by Mi1ler's Mellow Music Makers, featuring Don Fox on the flute, Thelma Baker on the tuba, and Dorothy Miller and her Dixie Land Jazz Sax. While waiting for my plane to China, I tuned in the Love Bird Breakfast Party , starring Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hubbard, nee Norinne Moak, the happy and contented couple. On board, I met Clinton D. Plemmons, owner of United Airlines, and his male secretary, Calvin K. Pyles. Dick invited me forward wherel met the ship's captain, Art Sloneker, and his co-pilot, Fred Morgan. Upon arrival in the capital city of China, I was escorted to the Club Treadway just in time to see Lowell Pencinni, the famous ballet dancer and his partner Jerline Hunt. A meal of Leding- ton Lobsters, Mullins Macaroni, and Singleton Salad was prepared for me by that world famous chef Charles K. Krause, assisted by his wife, Sue Greeley, and all the little chefs. I was off again, this time for lovely Italy. Ruth Kelly and Jackie Hahn served as the steward- esses on this flight. When my plane landed, I was met bylames Webb, Ambassador to the Vatican, and we attended the Italian Grand Pix where we witnessed a record breaking victory by the only ten-time winner of the American 500 Mile Race , Gary Beary. In Rome, I rented an Imhoff Sports Car Special from the Reese Car Agency and drove to Paris, France. Once in Paris, Ivisited the James Ramsey Memorial Housing Project where I was introduced to the staff consisting of Laura Parker, project engineer, James Smith, contractor: and Ruth Rosenblam and Beatrice Tomilson, steelworkers on the project. This was followed by a visit to the Paladium in England, where I saw Jess Thompson, the singing dribbler for the Harlem Globe Trotters, giving out with Money, Honey while Liberace Watkins played the piano. Before returning stateside, I was honored with an audience with the Prime Minister of England, Sir Bernard R. J ohnson. I then returned to the States and Washington, D. C., wherel was met by Iris Ruder, Editor- in-chief of Time magazine. She invited me to attend the Senator George, Navy Investigations with her. Senator George's chief counsel, Everett Powell, was on the witness stand. I was then invited to the home of Ronald Varney, Wall Street Banker and steel man, in New York City. Before leaving the big city, Ihad a chance to see Doug Stemphfley on a new type television, 3-D, and his morning program Today . The last stop on my round-the-world trip was Chicago. Here I found Freida Wallace and Josephine Mobley instructing a football clinic for college coaches. When I resumed my position at Western, Marlene Jones, dean of the school, informed me that Betty Sprinkle had resigned her post as my asst. coadi to take a lifetime contract as head coach of ping pong at West Point.
