Con- structed on the crest ofthe hill in Romanesque style, it is the nucleus around which the college has grown. The successful transition of Seton Hill from a secondary school for girls to a college was accomplished through the perse- vering efforts of two Sisters of Charity, Mother Mary Joseph Havey and Sister M. Francesca Brownlee. When the charter of Seton Hill College was granted in June, 1918, Mother Mary Joseph became its first president, and Sister Francesca was named the first dean.
