The yearbook, as you' have conceived it, is primarily a souvenir of your years at Seton Hill. Leafing throughits pages, you will be brought back in spirit to the Hill, and reunited with your teachers, classmates and friends. CHEVRON will be a bond of unity, and that is as it should be. May your yearbook also be a reminder of the serious purposes for which you came to Seton Hill! The title itself is full of suggestion.You explain Chevron as meaning The House of God -which immediately recalls the words of Saint Peter, Be you also as living stones built up, a spiritual house. The World, of course, is God's house, which He built out of nothing and filled with the evidence of His presence, so that we could stop in it on our way to Heaven. You have studied the world in many of its aspects, using such various methods as science, history, art and philosophy to investigate it. But you yourselves, united in the Church, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and individually as immortal human persons, are the house of God to which Saint Peter refers. You are living stones in that house. In the last analysis, the purpose of your Catholic education has been to shape you and fashion you so that you would fit into the house that God is building. But al- ways, and from now on more than ever, you are not only the stones but the builders. As educated Catholic women you are destined to build many things-a home, a family, a decent and peaceful society, a better World. But whatever else you build, your first concern must be to build, in yourselves andyout of yourselves, the House of God. Let CHEVRON remind you of this, every time you pick it up.
