Marlene Bisasky is an out- Mary Catherine Monius, presi- standing member of the dent, was responsible for re Club- establishing the Maritain Debat ing Club after a year's lapse DEBATING ln an age when speech has become but the vocal manifestation of emotion, prejudice, and sentiment, it becomes imperative to inaugurate a Forensic club. The dispositions which are so needed for our times-reasoning, contact with truth, habits of reflection, and self-control are developed by participation in the forensic arts. A member of the National Catholic Forensic League, Maritain Forensic Club at Seton High School, participates in the Annual Declamation, original oratory, debating, Student Congress, and extempore contests here in the Baltimore area. This year, two members, Geraldine Antkowiak and'lVlary Catherine Monius traveled to Chicago with the Baltimore League. Betty Kelly is determined to bring home another victory to Seton.

LE CERCLE FRANQAIS Promoting an interest in the French language and offering a chance to speak it, Le Cercle F rangais includes those students who have completed a year of French. Active and enthusiastic have the members of this school been toward the Work of the French Club. uLes Cloches des Cieuxn a portrayal of the life of ,loan of Arc proved to faculty and student body that interest in the French language is not waning at Seton. The club was asked to do a repeat performance for Most Honored Mother Lepicard when she visited the U.S.A. dur- ing the summer. ,I M5 A The French Club officers, Marlene Bisasky, Kathleen Wienmalm, and Marie Cwick confer with Sister Rose about a monthly meeting. moufds its destiny by wriffezz creafiveizess. Sister Mary James, moderator of Vignettes, proof- reads Mary Anne Ellis' selection for Vignettes. Members of Vignettes staff look over articles which are to appear in the liter- ary magazine. Maria Prytula, Cathy 0'I-Iara, and Kitty Green- well inspect a book containing rules for literary form. VIGNETTES Vignettes offers an outlet for those gifted with creative ability. Short stories, poems, essays, and hook reviews are included in its pages. The literary magazine is one of the media used to in- culcate appreciation for fine literature. Through experience the student learns to express his ideas with mastery of words and power of mind. The drawings included in this magazine are also student work. Mary Anne Ellis, editor of this year's edition of Vignettes won the Baltimore News-Post award for feature writing. She was flown to Detroit to participate in a writing con- test with winners from other parts of the country. Margie Robbins, Molly Longhran, Donna Siegert and Kathy Wieman compare notes concerning art work to appear in Vignettes.
